Submission Guidelines
Black Ink aims to create a welcoming, respectful, and creatively enriching environment for writers and readers. While we encourage artistic freedom and exploration of complex themes, all submissions must remain appropriate for a professional publication and align with the values and mission of our organization.
Black Ink Club welcomes original created works including:
- Short stories
- Poetry
- Novel Parts
- Miscellaneous (scripts, flash fiction, etc.)
Content Standards
Submissions may be declined if they contain content including, but not limited to:
- Graphic sexual content or pornography
- Gratuitous violence, gore, or shock content primarily intended to disturb rather than contribute to the narrative
- Hate speech, discriminatory language, or content targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected identities
- Content that promotes or glorifies abuse, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or illegal activity in a harmful or irresponsible manner
- Harassment, threats, or targeted attacks toward real individuals or organizations
- Plagiarized work or submissions that substantially copy existing material
- AI-generated content submitted as entirely original human-written work
- Material intended primarily to provoke, troll, or create discomfort without artistic, thematic, or educational value
- Explicit incestuous, exploitative, or abusive relationships presented without meaningful literary purpose or critical framing
Black Ink understands that literature often explores difficult, emotional, or controversial subjects. Works involving darker themes may still be considered if they are handled thoughtfully, contribute meaningfully to the piece, and are presented with clear artistic intent and maturity.
Editorial Rights
All submissions are reviewed at the discretion of the Black Ink editorial team. We reserve the right to reject works that do not align with our publication standards, organizational mission, audience expectations, or campus guidelines.
